The RTJ Team is famous (well sort of) beyond our humble beginnings in Dufferin County.

RTJ presents to Orangeville Leadership Camp

On July 28th 2008, Sara Wicks talked to a group of keen kids about vehicle emissions and the effects of idling in their community. Since they learned so much, they decided to perform an anti-idling campaign right outside of their own camp when parents came to pick up their kids - complete with signs and catchy songs! With all they learned from RTJ, the campaign was a great success and the enthusiastic kids gained some great leadership skills.

Ontario Power Authority Blue Jays game

On July 22nd 2007 team leaders Phoebe Lusk and Sara Wicks attended the Blue Jays game as Guests of the OPA. The girls watched the Blue Jays trample Seattle 8 to 0 from their box seats, and made it onto the jumbo-tron.

Breakfast at the Empire Club with Peter Love

During the fall of 2006 team leader Phoebe Lusk was invited to sit at the head table for a luncheon held by the Empire Club to introduce Peter Love's annual conservation report. This was a great honour, and Phoebe had a wonderful time. Reduce the Juice was highlighted in Love's report for being a successful youth conservation initiative. Phoebe presented Love with a Reduce the Juice t-shirt which was met with great approval.

August 24, 2006 - RTJ Presents "An Inconvenient Truth" in Orangeville

RTJ in conjunction with the local group Monday Night at the Movies, presented Al Gore's Award winning film "An Inconvenient Truth" to two packed audiences in Orangeville. Click here to read the full story in the Orangeville Citizen.

April 20, 2006 - RTJ Presents Dr. David Suzuki with the Weedgee Kidz and Booklore

Orangeville's local bookstore had a great offer for RTJ; co-present David Suzuki on his autobiography book tour. Our answer? A resounding yes please! Read more.

September 2006 - Canadian Youth Climate Coalition Conference - During the first weekend in September 2006 student team leader Sarah Fairlie attended the founding meeting of the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition. While there she was involved in the creation of their founding declaration and had the opportunity to meet lots of other youths concerned about climate change. July, 2006 - Reduce the Juice Enters Collaborative Research Project with the University Waterloo - On July 24th the Reduce the Juice Project entered a collaborative Research Project with the University of Waterloo. The project entitled "Analysis and Further Development of the Reduce the Juice Model: Empowering Youth to Encourage Energy Efficiency in their Communities" will use data from the Orangeville Reduce the Juice Project to look at how to improve the marketing techniques used by Reduce the Juice with a view to design a program for delivery across the Province. Dr Jennifer Lynes of the Faculty of Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo will lead the project with assistance from Heba Gaber a graduate student in the Environment and Resources program. The work done by the University will be funded by the Ontario Centre of Excellence, Centre for Energy.

July 12, 2006 - Reduce the Juice field trip to see "An Inconvenient Truth" - The Reduce the Juice team piled into a bus for a trip into the city to see Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth". The day also included a lunch at the McMillan Binch Mendelsohn law firm at which the team got to meet some successful people working in the energy sector as well as various members of the Conservation Bureau. Thank you to the Ontario Energy Association and McMillan Binch Mendelsohn for making the day such a success. We were so impressed by the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" that we are helping to bring it to Orangeville on August 21st! Download the movie flyer for more information.

December 2005 - The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 11/ MOP 1) - Reduce the Juice team leader Sarah Fairlie attended the United Nations conference in Montreal. She wrote eloquently about her experiences for a series of three articles in the local Orangeville paper, The Orangeville Banner.
