Who are we

Reduce the Juice Waterloo is a youth led project designed to encourage residents of Waterloo to reduce their personal transportation emissions by 10%. We ask them to take active and alternative transportation and when it's necessary to drive, do so as efficiently as possible. Meet the team!

Team Leaders:

Sara Wicks
Since 2006, Sara has had more than a few successful projects under her belt and is hoping to add one more! By encouraging people to take active transportation, she is looking to have an even bigger impact in the community. This summer, Sara is making a personal commitment to do the 100-mile diet to reduce her own carbon footprint. In September, she is returning to the University of Guelph and is excited about her major that has been changed to Environmental Governance. She's pumped up to be back in the Waterloo Region this summer to make it even better than the last!

Michelle Attard
Michelle is the new Team Leader for this summer and is heading into her fourth year of Environmental Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has a strong passion for the planet, wanting to help those who cannot help themselves, such as trees and animals. She feels that by teaching people useful ways to reduce their carbon footprint will in the long run help out in a big way. She believes that we respect what we love, love what we understand and understand what we are taught. She is very excited to educate people and make a difference in the Waterloo community!

Student Campaigners

Fatemeh is a recent graduate of Waterloo Collegiate. She is passionate about politics, animal welfare, human rights, and sustainability (in Economics and Environmental development). She is always up for a good discussion (or debate) and enjoys good music and people who can make her laugh. She has been a vegetarian for 8 years, and will be attending the University of British Columbia for economics next year.

John is going to the University of Western for biological medicine sciences. John is excited to learn about climate change and share his knowledge with everyone in Waterloo. He enjoys playing music, solving environmental issues in a peaceful manner and volunteering at the hospital.

Jacob is a graduate of WCI and is attending the University of Guelph in the fall for plant science. Jacob considers himself a passionate crusader for the environment and is an avid cyclist. Nothing pumps him up more than checking tire pressure to ensure maximum efficiency.

Nathan is 18 years old and has attended WCI for the past four years and will be taking his fifth and final year in the fall at the same school. He has taken courses emphasized in geography and environmental studies and hopes to further his education at the University of Waterloo in the international development program. He participates enthusiastically in environmental conservation as well as other extracurricular activities. He hopes to use this experience to broaden his horizons, and make a difference too.

Nathalie is an exchange student from Quebec. She has an interest in animals. Next year she will be completing her last year of high school. She joined the RTJ to help people get informed on the pollution we make daily and how we can change things.

Elle à un grand amour pour les animaux, l'année prochaine elle complétera sa dernière année au secondaire.
